The first series of the dystopian survival series saw Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae, The Acolyte) compete in a deadly competition for a life-changing cash prize. Every time a contestant lost their life, the pot grew bigger, with proceedings monitored by the mysterious Front Man (Lee Byung-hun, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra).
Gi-hun eventually came out on top, winning by default after childhood friend Sang-woo (Park Hae-soo, Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area) stabbed themselves to ensure someone could walk away with the money.
About to board a flight to see his daughter, Gi-hun decided at the last moment that he couldn’t leave South Korea, instead vowing revenge on the organisers of the games. Series 2 will G-hun enter the games once again, according to Hwang Dong-hyuk’s note.
“Will he succeed in getting his revenge?” Dong-hyuk teases.
