Inspired by Barbara Euphan Todd’s classic books, Mackenzie Crook has penned another magical adventure for the whole family.

Crook plays Worzel Gummidge, the mischievous scarecrow who causes mayhem in the lives of brother and sister John (Thierry Wickens) and Susan (India Brown).

When Worzel takes John and Susan to a scrapyard, he overhears a foul-mouthed old friend whingeing away, Saucy Nancy – the carved figurehead of a ship detached from her vessel.

Desperate to return to the sea, Saucy Nancy, played by Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter), recruits Worzel, John and Susan to help get her back to the salty shores, but will her ship be waiting for her?

Travelling by foot, in a wheelbarrow, by bus and riding a motorbike and sidecar, the peculiar foursome must navigate their way across wild moorland to reach the white cliffs at Seashell. What follows is a heart-warming tale of friendship and belonging as the group leave their home in Scatterbrook for a trip to the sea-side.
