Sky has released a first look trailer for their new original drama, Gangs of London.
Creator Gareth Evans (of The Raid franchise) will bring his trademark cinematic action to the small screen in this gang feud saga set in modern, multicultural London.
The series features Joe Cole of Peaky Blinders, trading in his Shelby colours for those of the Wallace family. As Sean Wallace, he takes over the reins of the most powerful crime family in London after patriarch Finn Wallace (Colm Meaney) is killed by an unknown assassin.
With billions of pounds at stake, Sean’s assumption ignites a raging conflict among the international gangs all vying to fill the power vacuum.
Sean enlists the aid of Ed Dumani (Lucian Msamati) of the Dumani crime family in an attempt to consolidate his power, and avenge his father’s death.
Another potential ally is Elliot Finch (Sope Dirsu), a lowlife chancer who stumbles into the frame with a mysterious interest in the family’s dealings.
The fiery trailer sees Sean surveying his kingdom while a friend offers his view of the criminal underworld they were born into: “Some might think it’s brutal, I say it’s glorious.”
Gangs of London is a nine-part drama that will air on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV later this year.
