The BBC has released first-look images of upcoming thriller series Nightsleeper.

Over six episodes, the show follows two people trying to foil the hacking of an overnight train from Glasgow to London in real time. The pair have never met, and will need to overcome mutual distrust to work together, not least because one of them is trapped on the train.

Joe Roag (Joe Cole, Gangs of London, Peaky Blinders) is an off-duty police officer who was hoping his train to London would pass by uneventfully. Meanwhile, Abby Aysgarth (Alexandra Roach, The Light in the Hall, Utopia), Acting Technical Director of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre, was looking forward to her holiday. Both their plans are derailed, putting them on a literal collision course towards disaster, unless they can outwit whoever has taken control of the train.

The show is written by Nick Leather and Laura Grace, with Jamie Magnus Stone and John Hayes directing. It is produced by Euston Films, a label of Fremantle, which is responsible for global distribution. Jonathan Curling produces, while Daisy Costello co-produces.

Kate Harwood from Euston Films executive produces, along with Nick Leather, Jamie Magnus Stone, and Gaynor Holmes from the BBC.

Nightsleeper will air on BBC One in early 2024.
