The BBC has revealed further casting for Aimee Lou Wood-led comedy Daddy Issues, featuring stars from the likes of Barbie, Brassic and Bridgerton.
Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education) stars as 24-year-old Gemma, recently cast out of her young-wild-and-free lifestyle, after discovering she is pregnant from a one-night stand.
David Morrissey (Sherwood) enters the picture as her father Malcolm. Recently left in the lurch as his now ex-wife jets around the world discovering herself on their life savings, he is unable to do basic household tasks and struggles to boil an egg.
When Gemma’s housemate moves out, the decision seems simple – have her dad move in to help with preparation for the baby, and make her feel less alone.
Through dating disasters, failed friendships and ‘messy family dynamics’, Gemma and her father soon find themselves facing up to their parental responsibilities, together.
Joining Lou Wood and Morrissey are Sharon Rooney (Barbie), Taj Atwal (Hullraisers), David Fynn (Am I Being Unreasonable?), Sarah Hadland (Miranda), Tom Stourton (Stath Lets Flats), Arian Nik (Count Abdulla), Susannah Fielding (This Time with Alan Partridge), Lauren O'Rourke (White Gold), and Cyril Nri (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story).
Further cast includes Perry Fitzgerald (Line of Duty), Claire Keelan (The Trip), Susan Lynch (Sex Education), Cora Kirk (Grantchester), Damien Molony (Brassic), Sherrie Hewson (Benidorm), and two thirds of comedy troupe The Penny Dreadfuls: David Reed and Humphrey Ker (Welcome to Wrexham).
Daddy Issues is created by Fudge Park, the team behind White Gold and The Inbetweeners.
The six-episode series will air on BBC Three, with no release date currently set.
