The White Lotus’ Aimee Lou Wood teams up with fellow actor Ralph Davies (SAS Rogue Heroes) for their screenwriting debut, Film Club.
Wood stars as Evie, a young woman who’s weekly ‘film club’ is her escape from her day to day life. Every Friday she decks out her mum’s garage in decorations, dresses up and invites over her friends, Kam (Arian Nik, Daddy Issues), Samantha (Fola Evans Akingbola, The Night Agent), Dominic (co-creator Ralph Davis) and… Noa (Nabhaan Rizwan, Industry).
Evie has been harbouring quite the crush on her best friend Noa, and has no idea it is reciprocated.
We join Evie at Film Club no. 198. She hasn’t left the house in six months after a dip in her mental health, so has been spending too much time with her quirky mum Suz (Suranne Jones, Gentleman Jack) and sister Izzie (Liv Hill, Three Girls). This film club is different, Noa hits her with the news he’s moving to the other side of the country for his dream job. With only six months to go until he moves away, Evie and Noa have limited time to face their feelings.
Rounding out the cast are Adam Long (Happy Valley) as Evie’s boyfriend, and Owen Cooper (Adolescence) as her irritating younger neighbour.
Film Club will air later this year on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three.
