Amazon Prime has released a trailer for the new fantasy series set thousands of years before The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
The series is based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s history of Middle-earth and is set during a time of peace in Middle-earth’s Second Age.
The show will explore the forging of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the fall of the island kingdom Númenor and the final alliance between elves and men.
After her brother gives his life hunting the enemy, Elven warrior Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) is convinced evil still lurks in Middle-earth and decides to take up the sword and finish his mission.
The series also stars Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Sophia Nomvete, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Sir Lenny Henry, Nazanin Boniadi, Benjamin Walker, Peter Mullan and Cynthia Addai-Robinson.
Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay have already estimated that the show will run for five series.
The eight-part series of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will air on Amazon Prime from Friday 2 September.
