The BBC’s former presenter of current affairs, David Dimbleby, takes a look back at the controversies that affected the broadcaster during his time on air, including its role in key moments of political and cultural change.

In the first episode, Dimbleby examines the way the BBC has dealt with power and preserved its independence over the last half century, through conflicts with Margaret Thatcher, Harold Wilson and even the monarchy. He also hears from current and former BBC staff, including broadcaster Emily Maitlis, whose recent MacTaggart Lecture raised important questions about the media’s impartiality in an age of populism.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

Friday

Amazon Prime

Between House of the Dragon and this new Lord of the Rings series, we’ve got ourselves a battle of megabudget fantasy franchises.

The Rings of Power rewinds the history of Middle-Earth thousands of years (to be exact) to tell the story of its ‘Second Age’, the forging of the rings and the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron.

"We thought the war, at last, was ended," says the elven Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) in the trailer, but it is clear that evil is re-emerging. When her brother dies in battle, she takes up the sword to finish his mission.
