48 Hours...One Short Film

Your chance to demonstrate and celebrate your creativity to the television industry. On Friday 9 October, the RTS invite you to join us for its inaugural Futures 48 Film Challenge where you have 48 hours to create, film and edit a 3 minute short film that will be judged and awarded by the television industry. Receiving the title of the film at 7.00pm on Friday 9 October, during the launch event starting at 6.00pm, your short film must then be submitted and entered by 7.00pm on Sunday 11 October. 

Who?

Open to aspiring filmmakers with no broadcast credits from across the United Kingdom. This competition is your chance to show off your creativity and innovation, create a short film that will be judged by the television industry and showcased on the RTS YouTube Channel. The winning film will also receive a prestigious Royal Television Society Award. 

You can either enter as an individual or as a team. There is no fee to enter this competition. 

Note: either you or a member of your team must either be a full RTS member (from £65 per year) or a RTS Futures (free to join) or Student Member (free to join). Details of RTS membership can be found here

How?

  • Register to join the launch event, starting at 6.30pm, on Friday 9 October
  • During this launch event, the film title will be announced at 7.00pm. 
  • You then have 48 hours to create your 3 minute short film based on this title. What you then film is up to you, please ensure that all filmmaking is done with full awareness of all Covid-19 rules and restrictions, ensuring social distancing guidelines and other local government guidelines are adhered to.  
  • All entries must then be submitted on the RTS Awards System by 7.00pm on Sunday 11 October. (We recommend you register prior to the launch and familiarise with the Awards System (a support guide is available here). 
  • Entries will then be assessed and judged in October / November with the nominees announced in November and the winner presented later this year (details of a Ceremony to be determined)
