The ceremony was hosted by Catriona Shearer and Sanjeev Kohli at the Oran Mor, Glasgow. A special mention went to Jim McColl for the 1000th episode of his gardening show Beechgrove Garden, for which he picked up The RTS Scotland Award.
Introducing the evening, the Chairman of the North East & The Border Centre, Graeme Thompson, said:
I don’t know what you were doing 29 years ago — I was obviously still in short trousers — but we were watching shows such as Highway and The Tube from Tyne Tees, Look Who’s Talking with Derek Batey on Border and Look North and Eastenders on BBC1. How times have changed.

The winners of this year's RTS Programme Awards in partnership with Audio Network, were announced at a star-studded ceremony hosted by Richard Madeley at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
The RTS has announced the winners for the RTS Television Journalism Awards 2016.
The awards for news and current affairs seek to recognise creative and excellent journalism by organisations whose broadcasts are transmitted on a UK-based platform and, for the first time, those who create online video content from a UK production base.
The awards cover all forms of production in Scotland, recognising excellence and innovation across a range of genres and crafts.
