The virtual celebrations were hosted by Mishal Husain, Presenter, BBC Radio 4 and BBC News at Ten.
This year, the ‘Judges’ Award’ was given to all the technical teams in recognition of the ingenuity, innovation and speed they demonstrated this year to keep journalism on the air.
Chaired by Philip Edgar-Jones, Director of Sky Arts, the Awards celebrate the best in student television. The Undergraduate and Postgraduate Awards are judged in six categories – Animation, Comedy & Entertainment, Drama, Factual, News and Open. In addition, to reward excellence in craft skills, Undergraduate and Postgraduate Awards are presented for Camerawork, Editing and Sound.
The Brian Waddell Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Industry went to TV presenter
The ceremony took place this evening at the London Hilton on Park Lane, hosted by Charlotte Hawkins from ITV’s Good Morning Britain and ITV Racing.
Across 29 competitive categories, the awards celebrate the vast variety of skills and processes involved in programme making. The BBC led the way with 10 awards, including two of the three Director awards: Janet Fraser Crook won Director – Multicamera for her work on Coldplay at Glastonbury 2024, and Paddy Wivell’s Hell Jumper took home the Director – Non-scripted award.
Big winners on the night were The Gathering (Best Drama, Best Scriptwriter, Best Performance in a Drama) and Morning Live (Best Factual Series, Best Inclusive Practice, and Best Presenter In The North West - Gethin Jones).
Hosted by rapper, author and broadcaster Guvna B, the winners were crowned at the prestigious awards ceremony at the IET, Savoy Place on the Friday 21st June. The RTS Student Television Awards is an annual celebration, showcasing the talent, potential and enthusiasm of students across the UK, identifying exceptional skills and craftsmanship.

The illustrious awards ceremony took place this evening at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in London, hosted by comedian Tom Allen.
The awards showcased the extraordinary talent evident across all genres in British television with attendees this evening including Hannah Waddingham, Bella Ramsey, Jodie Whittaker, Gabby Roslin, Noel Fielding, Chris Packham, Stacey Solomon, Joe Swash, Mark Gatiss, Susanna Reid, Romesh Ranganathan, Kane Robinson and Siobhán McSweeney.
