The first eviction for this series of Big Brother is due to take place tomorrow.

That makes now the perfect time to brush up on who’s who in the house, before one of them, um, isn’t in the house.

The 29-year-old would use the prize money to fund friends’ IVF treatment and dog charities. However, she admits to not having much of a strategy for reaching the final.

“I think it’s [just] about being your most authentic self,” she explained. “The viewers aren’t dumb – they can sniff out manufactured drama […] People might not like it but that’s all I can do – be myself.”

Emma

Aesthetics business owner

The 53-year-old applied to Big Brother to humour her daughter. Now that she’s actually on the show, she can’t imagine changing herself.

“I might have times where I’m the mother hen but generally speaking I’ll be one of the girls,” she said. “I don’t think I really act my age when I really should so I can’t see myself acting my age in Big Brother.”

Segun

Charity videographer

The 25-year-old is often compared to Kevin Hart, in terms of personality and – by Segun’s own admission – height.

He’s looking forward to Big Brother because of the “detach from life.”

“My strategy is to be at peace with everyone in the house,” he added. “I just want to be at peace with everybody no matter how far I make it in the show.”

Nathan

The immaculately groomed 24-year-old used to be a butler for now-King Charles. A fan of new experiences, he’s stepped into the Big Brother house ready to meet people, and isn’t scared of a little confrontation.

“I like to have a spirited debate. I’m quite a strong character. If I think something’s wrong, I’ll call it out as being wrong – I’m not afraid to do that.”

As you would hope, the 24-year-old Londoner has a high opinion of Big Brother.

“A lot of my work is about how do we upgrade democracy, how do we think about how the world can be governed differently. And a lot of it is about community, and meeting people that you might not meet in your everyday life. And figuring out how you make solutions together, how you learn to be together, how you learn to set parameters that end up benefiting everyone. This show is a micro version of that,” she explained.

The 23-year-old didn’t know what Big Brother was prior to applying for the show.

“I have no interest in being famous,” he said. “I’m Lebanese and Palestinian and I thought this would be a great platform to discuss it from the point of view of someone that grew up in the west and has Middle Eastern heritage.”

Martha

NHS administrator

26-year-old Martha has been watching the show since the tender age of eight, and knows she’s got what it takes to do well as a contestant.

“I’ve always been a little in your face and a bit dramatic,” she said.

She admitted she’s most likely to be nominated for “being the most annoying.”

Lily

The 20-year-old is mostly excited to not be living with her parents for a while. She applied for the show after she broke up with her ex, who loved Big Brother, whereas she had never heard of it.

“When we broke up, I saw the advert and I thought I’m going to apply for his favourite TV show and get on it – I didn’t think I would,” she said.

Ali

Forensic psychologist

The 38-year-old’s work has seen her hold her all in tough situations, including prisons. Compared to that, the Big Brother house might seem like a walk in the park, but Ali’s not being complacent.

“The main way to keep yourself safe seems to be not getting internal votes so you’re not put up for eviction in the first place,” she said, explaining that a good strategy is “getting people on side and being liked. But not to the detriment of sacrificing who I am or my self-respect.”

Thomas

Footballer

The 20-year-old doesn’t let an amputated leg get in the way of sport. He’s also not afraid of a bit of tough love.

“In myself I never get offended, you can say anything about me – I’ve already heard it before,” he said.

Ryan

Marketing and events worker

The 28-year-old comes into the show fully equipped with dad jokes and, he hopes, authenticity.

“I feel like over the recent years, it’s gone a bit tame and people are in there for other motives and I think having someone normal like me in there will shake it up,” he said.

Hannah

HR consultant

The 24-year-old hails from West London, and sees appearing on the show as a worthy ‘side quest’.

“Who else has done Big Brother?” she asked. “There’s a small set of people who can actually say they’ve done Big Brother. I’m going to tell my kids ‘you don’t know how lit mum was!’”

Izaaz

The 29-year-old Swansea native, who now lives in London, is promising to bring the positivity.

“I reckon I’ll be there for a lot of people,” he said. “I’m not the type of person to fall out with anyone and if I did, I’d make up for it.”

However, secret tasks may bring out his sneakier side.

“I want to put my acting skills to the test!” he explained. “I’m really excited about that.”

Sarah

Spa account manager

“I just want to do one more crazy thing before I settle down,” the 27-year-old explained. “I want one more experience to be like ‘wow’.”

Sarah and her partner plan to have kids, but before then, she’s got the Big Brother house to contend with.

“I know from having worked on cruise ships that when you’re with people in an enclosed environment you make the strongest bonds. I’m really looking forward to meeting people I would never normally meet living in the country.”

Marcello

Youth mentor

An East London native, the 34-year-old is full of beans.

“From the moment I wake up I’m buzzing,” he explained. “I wake up full of love. I love having banter with people.”

What is he most likely to get nominated for?

“I can wind people up.”

Dean

The dapper 35-year-old has wanted to step foot in the Big Brother house since he was 11. However, living out a lifelong ambition might not be plain sailing.

“I’ll probably be nominated because I can be annoying,” he said. “Sometimes if there’s a silence I like to fill it. I’ll probably get nominated for talking too much.”

Big Brother airs every night except Saturdays on ITV2 and ITVX at 9.00pm
