The Marlow Murder Club has been commissioned for a second series, continuing the adaptation of Robert Thorogood’s book series.
The six-episode outing to Marlow begins filming this summer, with the first two instalments adapting Thorogood’s second book, Death Comes to Marlow. Two other murder mysteries will feature in the series, each spanning two episodes.
Returning to star are Samantha Bond (The Sarah Jane Adventures), Jo Martin (Dreaming Whilst Black) and Cara Horgan (The Death of Stalin). In the first series, the trio played a group of women who come together to solve a triple-homicide in their usually sleepy Buckinghamshire town.
Things show no sign of quieting down in series two. Someone is found dead in a locked room, a man’s body is found on the street with no connection to Marlow and things are getting deadly at the sailing club. Along the way, amateur sleuths Judith Potts (Bond), Becks Starling (Horgan), and Suzie Harris (Martin) will come up against the great and the good of Marlow. Local aristocracy will present as much a challenge to the three as the boatyard workers, as they do their best to get to the bottom of each case.
The new show will air on U&Drama and be available on streaming service U, currently called Drama and UKTV Play, respectively. U is launching this summer to bring together UKTV’s terrestrial channels and streaming services. The other channels will be rebranded as U&Dave, U&Yesterday and U&W.
