The Bear has been renewed by FX for a third series.
The high-octane, Chicago-based drama, which premiered in America on Hulu and is available in the UK on Disney+, “has become a cultural phenomenon,” according to Nick Grad, president of FX Entertainment.
Grad added, “We’re so proud to partner with [series creator] Christopher Storer, [writer and executive producer] Joanna Calo, [executive producer] Josh Senior, and the rest of the creative team, as well as the brilliant cast led by Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
“What they and the crew have done is truly remarkable, and we and our partners at Hulu join fans in looking forward to the next chapter in the story.”
The show’s first, eight-episode series debuted in America in June 2022, with series two’s 10 episodes released the following summer.
The first series followed Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) as he tried to run an Italian beef sandwich shop after the previous owner, his brother Mikey (Jon Bernthal), died by suicide. Most of the remaining staff were unimpressed by Carmy’s fine dining credentials, and reluctant in the extreme to take orders from him.
By series two, the group manage to pull together as they work towards the opening of a new restaurant, The Bear. The pressure is on, and Carmy’s bereavement shows no signs of abating.
The third series will air in 2024.
