Take the Production Management category at the RTS Craft & Design Awards. The 2024 nominees were Squid Game: The Challenge, Race Across the World and Planet Earth III. How exactly do you build a set big enough for 456 people to play a game of ‘Red Light, Green Light’, and then deliver those 456 people to the start line? Or plot a racing course over 14,000km through seven different countries, while employing a crew agile enough to change course according to the whims of your contributors?

Episode details revealed for new David Attenborough wildlife series Asia

Filmed over a stretch of nearly four years, the programme features footage from Nepal, Tibet, Sri Lanka, Borneo, Thailand and Siberia.

The first episode – entitled “Beneath The Waves” – takes viewers on a journey around Asia’s oceans. “Above The Clouds” will showcase elephants living in high-altitude tea plantations and red panda hiding in the Himalaya, among others. Polar bears, Himalayan wolves and sea eagles all fight for survival in “The Frozen North”, before viewers enter the jungle in the fourth episode, “Tangled Worlds”.

Justine Evans on nature’s power to nurture

Wildlife film-maker Justine Evans recently had a friend visit her home near the Forest of Dean. As night fell, Evans took them mountain biking through the forest trails, which she regularly does with her wolfdog for no other reason than “it’s quite fun doing it in the dark”.

While they were out night riding, Evans recalls her friend turning to her and saying, “Oh, it’s not all that spooky, is it?”

Beginning in 2006, Plant Earth provides stories from across the globe, focusing on the species that inhabit Earth, and the environments they live in.

The newly released trailer for Planet Earth III features Attenborough’s narration hinting at what’s to come in the eight-part series. Climate change and the human impact on the globe appears to be a theme, with Attenborough stating how the natural world is changing due to “a powerful force… us.” Other promotional material mentions the challenges that we face together, accompanied by video clips of forest fires.
