Mae Martin

Comedian contestants announced for Taskmaster’s 15th series including Mae Martin

Taskmaster contestants Frankie Boyle, Ivo Graham, Jenny Éclair, Kiell Smith-Bynoe and Mae Martin

Having previously joked that he doesn’t have the jolly temperament required for Taskmaster, Frankie Boyle, host of Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, will be put to the test in the new series to impress the Taskmaster himself, Greg Davies.

Joining Boyle will be stand up Ivo Graham, who has appeared on the likes of Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo, comedy legend and former Loose Women panellist Jenny Éclair, Ghosts star Kiell Smith-Bynoe and Canadian comedian and creator and star of Feel Good, Mae Martin.

Created by Canadian comedian Mae Martin, the hilarious, warm and deeply personal comedy-drama sees Martin play a fictionalised version of themself: a bi-sexual stand-up navigating a new relationship with their straight girlfriend George, played by Charlotte Ritchie (Ghosts), while trying to keep their addictive impulses at bay.

The six-part series, co-written with Joe Hampson, is a semi-autobiographical comedy following a recovering addict and comedian called Mae.

As Mae attempts to get her addictive impulses under control, an all-consuming relationship with her new girlfriend George, played by Charlotte Ritchie (Fresh Meat), throws life into further complication.

The series was conceived off the back of one of Martin’s stand-up routines about addictive behaviour, and explores concepts of gender fluidity and queer romance.

Mae and George (w/t) follows recovering addict Mae (Martin) as she seeks to take control of her life while juggling a relationship with her new girlfriend George and keeping her addictive behaviours in check.

Joe Hampson (Skins) will co-write the series with Martin, and the comedy will be produced by Objective Fiction, whose portfolio includes Game Face, Toast of London and Fresh Meat.

“WHAT A DREAM,” said Mae Martin of the new project. “We cannot wait to make this show with E4, Netflix, and Objective Fiction.”
