Stars share their tips at the RTS Futures I Made it ... On-Screen event

The all-star panel assembled for the final RTS Futures event of the year on how to present telly were forced to relive their small screen debuts. While embarrassing for the professionals, the clips simultaneously gave hope to the audience of would-be presenters.

"No one starts off being bloody brilliant - it's a learning curve," said event and ITV's All Star Family Fortunes host Vernon Kay.

AVID COMPETITION

Sharon Barbour

The RTS competition for Avid Xpress Pro software has been won by Sharon Barbour of Storm UK Productions.

The Walker-based company was formed in 2006 to develop community film-making. Sharon also works with BBC Look North based in Newcastle.

"I am keen to support community producers who might otherwise find it difficult to afford to edit their pieces," said Sharon, who also intends to support skills development for young people interested in learning more about Avid editing.

Breaking into Media 2010

The highlight of the event was the keynote address from Dr. Wayne Garvie who is currently the Managing Director for Content and Production at BBC Worldwide, and will soon take up the post of Managing Director of International Production at super-indie All3Media.
