In the last couple of years, former contestants have found fame and fortune outside the villa, even if they didn’t find true love.

Here is a roundup of what happened next for some of the islanders from 2017 and 2018.

Dani Dyer

One half of the UK’s favourite couple of 2018, Dani Dyer – whose father is actor Danny Dyer – became the nation’s sweetheart with her funny one liners and relatable nature.

She quickly coupled up with fellow islander Jack Fincham and they were so loved up they even had their own couple’ nickname ‘Jani’.

Upon leaving the villa, Dyer’s relationship with Fincham initially thrived, with the loved-up pair even moving in together.

Eventually the couple separated, but this didn’t hinder Dyer’s budding career.

She currently has her own fashion collection with In The Style, has released her own book What Would Dani Do? My Guide to Living Your Best Life and is the face of the new Surf advert.

Jack Fincham

After winning the reality show with Dyer, Fincham has been busy with several TV appearances which include This Morning, Loose Women and Good Morning Britain.

The former couple also starred in their own ITVBe reality series Jack & Dani: Life after Love Island, giving viewers a look into the couple’s life as they settled into their relationship outside the villa.

Following his breakup with Dyer, Fincham has now joined the latest series of Celebs Go Dating and is still on the quest to find love. 

Amber Davies

Cique du soleil performer Amber Davies won the 2017 series with Kem Cetinay.

Although the pair split after their departure from the villa, the dancer has taken the West End by storm and is currently starring as Judy Bernly in 9 to 5: The Musical.

Davies has made frequent appearances as a resident Love Island expert on Lorraine and Good Morning Britain, and landed a contract with fashion brand Motel Rocks.

Kem Cetinay

After winning the third series of Love Island with Amber Davies, Kem Cetinay became a hairstylist to the stars with clientele including Philip Schofield and Ant Middleton, all of whom made guest appearances on Cetinay’s YouTube channel.

The barber also joined his best friend from the villa Chris Hughes on Celebrity Hunted, which saw the duo on the run from a team of intelligence personnel to raise funds for the charity Stand Up to Cancer.

Cetinay and Hughes also landed their own show on ITV2 You vs Chris & Kem, where the pair took on a variety of trials against the public.

Cetinay competed in the 10^th series of Dancing on Ice, returning the following year as a backstage reporter.

He played for the World XI team in Soccer Aid, and covered the latest gossip from the villa alongside Montana Brown on This Morning and with Arielle Free on the daily podcast, Love Island: The Morning After.

Dr Alex George

Doctor Alex George returned to practice in A&E after his departure from the villa as a single bachelor and found time to briefly cover Doctor Hillary Jones’s role as resident practitioner on Good Morning Britain.

Now one of the nation’s favourite doctors, George has started a podcast, The Waiting Room, where he advises the public on medical issues alongside Dr Ella Daniels.

On the show, the pair discuss their career on the medical frontline and are joined by health experts to answer health queries from listeners.

George has also launched a YouTube channel to show off his love of cars with celebrity guests, including former Love Island contestants and reality stars.

The car enthusiast will appear on Celebrity MasterChef later this year on BBC One.

Megan Barton Hanson

The self-proclaimed ‘shy girl' made quite the impression when she entered the villa as a late-comer in 2018, catching the eye of islander Wes Nelson. Despite moving in together after the show, the two split later that year.

Barton Hanson has been busy since leaving the villa appearing on several TV talk shows such as Loose Women and Good Morning Britain and becoming an ambassador for Pretty Little Thing.

The reality star has been very vocal about mental health and female empowerment and appeared on the RTS award-winning The Full Monty: Ladies Night.

Barton Hanson is still looking for love and has joined the latest series of Celebs Go Dating where she has expressed her wish to date more girls after revealing that she is bisexual.

Wes Nelson

Before his reality TV days, Wes Nelson worked as an electrical and nuclear engineer.

During his time on the show, he was involved in one of the series' most memorable love triangles, originally coupling up with Laura Anderson and then dramatically re-coupling with Megan Barton Hanson.

The couple were the runners up to winners Dyer and Fincham.

After moving in together and buying a pet hamster, the pair announced their split in January 2019 after Barton Hanson publicly feuded with Nelson’s Dancing on Ice partner Vanessa Bauer, and there were rumours of Nelson texting former Love Islander Amber Davies.

Nelson went on to appear on Dancing on Ice, repeatedly gaining high scores for his performances and finishing with Bauer in second place.

Along with various TV appearances, he has also released his own fashion collection with Boohoo Man and starred in an advert – along with fellow Love Island alumni Josh Denzel – for Men in Black: International.

Camilla Thurlow

Bomb disposal specialist Camilla Thurlow departed the villa in 2017 after coupling up with model Jamie Jewitt and are among the small roster of Love Island couples still together.

The power couple has since furthered Thurlow’s humanitarian ventures, including joining charity organisation Indigo Volunteers and working with the Halo Trust in Cambodia to promote awareness for the safe disposal of land mines.

They have also launched a sustainable, charitable beauty range called Love Jamila, which will give ten percent of its turnover to support refuges across Europe and the Middle East.  

Thurlow also proved a strong competitor in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins and fronted a reality show, What Camilla Did Next, following her exit from the villa.

Montana Brown

Former economics student Montana Brown left Majorca with personal trainer Alex Beattie but the pair split close to their exit.

Brown became Pretty Little Thing’s first UK ambassador and has since launched her debut 50-piece collection for the brand.

The model appeared on Celebrity Island With Bear Grylls and covered the Love Island gossip for 2019 alongside Kem Cetinay on This Morning.

Brown recently collaborated on an anti-bullying campaign with Glamour Magazine alongside fellow islanders Yewande Biala, Olivia Bowen Buckland, Malin Andersson and Kady Mcdermott.

Chris Hughes

Clothing ambassador and reality star Chris Hughes left the villa with Olivia Attwood in 2017. The pair later separated and documented their break up on their reality show Chris & Olivia: Crackin’ On.

With multiple appearances on daytime television and his reality series You vs Chris & Kem with Cetinay, Hughes has pursued his love of horse racing and reported on ITV’s coverage of the Grand National 2019.

Hughes has since trained to become jockey and has participated in amateur horse races for Macmillan Cancer charity.
