Famous and Fighting Crime
Monday: Channel 4, 9.00pm
New four-part series, Famous and Fighting Crime, sees Jamie Laing (Made in Chelsea) Sandi Bogle (Gogglebox), presenter Katie Piper and comic Marcus Brigstocke working as volunteer police officers.
The four celebrities are put to the test as they chase after thieves, apprehend violent suspects and intervene in a domestic abuse case amid crippling police cuts and rising crime.
Shetland
Tuesday: BBC One, 9.00pm
Crime drama Shetland returns with a grisly start as Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez (Douglas Henshall) and his team are called to the beach where a dismembered arm was found.
The team discover that the limb belonged to a young Nigerian man who’d arrived on the island only to be brutally killed. Faced with numerous possibilities, Perez must sift through all the likely motives before answers start to arise.
Skint Britain: Friends without Benefits
Wednesday: Channel 4, 9.00pm
Hard-hitting new series Skint Britain: Friends without Benefits follows residents in Hartlepool, where the government trialled Universal Credit, a new welfare benefits system.
Exploring rising crime, homelessness and reliance on food banks, the documentary sees locals searching for jobs and a means to survive without support.
Harlots
Thursday: Amazon Prime
Period drama Harlots returns for a second season and dives into the rivalry between 18th century brothel madams Lydia Quigley (Lesley Manville) and Margaret Wells (Samantha Morton).
Harlots follows a community of strong women as they struggle to survive in an oppressive patriarchal society, often turning on one another.
The Umbrella Academy
Friday: Netflix
Ellen Page stars as Vanya Hargreeves in new supernatural series The Umbrella Academy, adapted from My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way’s comics.
Vanya is one of seven children adopted by billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hargreeves, but unlike the others, she possesses no superpowers. Estranged for some time, the series follows the family as they reunite following their father’s death to save the world.
Lorena
Available from Friday: Amazon Prime Video
Produced by Jordan Peele (Get Out), Lorena recalls the infamous 1993 crime where Lorena Bobbit chopped off her husband’s penis with a knife.
John Wayne Bobbit’s grievous injury caused a media storm around rape, abuse and revenge. The four-part series considers the alleged abuse that led to the attack and explores how a case about domestic violence transformed into a national joke.
The Nine to Five with Stacey Dooley

Stacey Dooley returns to our screens with new documentary series, The Nine to Five with Stacey Dooley, as teens are placed in apprentice roles at companies looking to hire young workers.
The series follows five teenagers aged between 16 and 18 as they work and live away from home and receive guidance from some of the UK’s top bosses and recruiters.
