Filming has begun for the Christmas Special of Gavin & Stacey, which has been billed as the show’s final episode.
A photo posted jointly on the BBC and BBC iPlayer Instagram accounts shows the clapperboard from the first day’s filming.
James Corden (The Late Late Show with James Corden), who co-created and -writes the show with Ruth Jones (Stella), has also posted photos from set. One post appears to show Jones and Joanna Page (Men Up), who stars as Stacey.
The sitcom aired from 2007-10, and returned in 2019 for a Christmas Special. The episode ended on a cliffhanger, with Nessa (Jones) on one knee proposing to a gobsmacked Smithy (Corden).
Also in the show are Matthew Horne (Bad Education), who plays Gavin, Rob Brydon (The Trip), as Uncle Bryn, and Alison Steadman (The King’s Man), as Pam.
The clapperboard photo confirms that Christine Gernon, who directed the original three series, will be returning for the Christmas Special. Gernon is also known for her work directing on One Foot in the Grave and the US version of Ghosts
The cast has been photographed filming the finale in Barry Island, Wales, with James Corden posing with fans.
The 2024 Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special was announced in May, and will be broadcast on BBC One on Christmas Day.
