Celebrity Big Brother is to return after being off-air since 2018, following the success of the rebooted series of Big Brother currently being broadcast on ITV2.
The new series will air on ITV1 and STV, followed by hour-long companion show Celebrity Big Brother: Late & Live every night on ITV2 and ITVX. Late & Live will feature evictees’ first live interview after leaving the Big Brother house, as well as debate and commentary from special guests.
The Celebrity Brother: Live Stream will make a comeback, showing live footage from the house long after Celebrity Big Brother: Late and Live. The livestream will air every night of the week on both ITVX and STV Player.
Big Brother was broadcast on Channel 5 from 2011-18, following its launch on Channel 4 in 2000. It found a home on ITV2 in 2023, following a promotional video teasing the show’s return, which aired during the series finale of Love Island the year prior.
Meanwhile, Natalka Znak and Clair O’Donohoe from production company Initial are involved as producers. Also from Initial are its managing director Katy Manley and creative director Tamsin Dodgson, both of whom oversee Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother.
“The reception from our viewers to Big Brother’s return has been fantastic,” said Paul Mortimer, director of reality commissioning and acquisitions and the controller of ITV2 and ITVBe. We’re therefore thrilled to announce that we'll be bringing our very own celebrity edition to ITV1 and ITVX next year. Casting is underway to find a new batch of famous faces who are sure to provide more iconic and unmissable BB moments.”
“The launch series on ITV2 has been so much fun to make and we’re glad Big Brother has found a whole new audience on ITV2,” producer Natalka Znak added. “It’s been a joy working with ITV and we’re excited to do it all over again and this time with celebrities and on ITV1.”
Celebrity Big Brother will head to ITV1 and STV in 2024.
