The BBC has released a first-look image of The Jetty, the upcoming crime thriller starring Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who).
The show follows Ember Manning, a rookie detective investigating a fire in her home town, bringing her into contact with more than one of its less savoury residents.
“Bringing the complex and enigmatic character of Ember Manning to life has been an incredible experience,” said Coleman. “I can’t wait for everyone to meet this new heroine and to find out what’s lurking beneath the surface of The Jetty.”
Amongst the cast are Ralph Ineson (The Witch), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Laura Marcus (Bad Education), Amelia Bullmore (Happy Valley) and Ruby Stokes (Lockwood & Co.). Also joining the show are Weruche Opia (I May Destroy You), Miya Ocego (I Hate Suzie), Tom Glynn-Carney (House of the Dragon) and Nina Barker-Francis (The Flash).
Dominic Coleman (Paddington), Elliot Cowan (The Crown), Bo Bragason (Renegade Nell) and Matthew McNulty (The Terror) will also appear in the four-part thriller. This is alongside Arthur Hughes (Help), David Ajala (Italian Studies) and Shannon Watson (HP Lovecraft’s Witch House).
The Jetty follows rookie detective Ember Manning’s investigation of the fire that ripped through a Lancashire holiday home. Along the way, she has to contend with a podcaster investigating a missing persons cold case and the illicit entanglements between a grown man and two underage girls.
Mannings’s enquiries bring up questions of morality and memory in a place not touched by the #MeToo movement.
The show is expected to air on BBC One in 2024.
