BBC documentary Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen will be released in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The documentary will include never before seen home movies of the Queen filmed by members of the Royal Family.
Viewers will see private and intimate moments of the Queen as a young girl through her own eyes and words as she grew up and throughout her reign.
To accompany the release of the documentary, three new images of a young princess Elizabeth have been revealed.
The Royal Family have been filming themselves from the 1920s and over the decades those home-made recordings have added up.
Th recordings are held privately by the Royal Collection in the vaults of the British Film Institute and the Queen has allowed the BBC unprecedented access to the films.
The films will show precious moments such as the Queen as a baby being pushed in a pram by her mother and her coronation at 27 in 1953.
The documentary will show the close and warm relationship between the Queen and her parents and the first extended visit of Prince Philip to Balmoral in 1946, which features a snapshot of the Queen’s engagement ring before the engagement was made public.
Other moments include her grandfather George V sailing with the Queen Mother off the Isle of Wight in 1931.
BBC Studios watched over 400 reels of film, including a lost newsreel of behind-the-scenes recordings of state events, believed to have been privately commissioned by the Royal Family.
Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen will be a rich and detailed account of the Queen’s life of unparalleled historical record.
Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Sunday 29th May.
