New observational BBC documentary Our Lives highlights the bravery and determination of Britain’s top high-wire walkers.
The captivating documentary features one of Britain’s top high-wire artists, Chris Bullzini from Somerset, who regularly risks his life to perform and walk the wire with no safety net.
When Bullzini was a teenager, he ran away to join the circus and turned his love of street performance into a hugely successful career.
Bullzini is in high demand worldwide and since the summer of 2019, BBC cameras have followed Bullzini as he faces his biggest challenge yet.
Viewers will be able to watch as Bullzini takes to the high wire and stages a staggering 230 metre length tightrope walk, 20 metres high over Norwich city centre.
However, when the pandemic hit, his future as a high-wire performer was put in danger as all of his acts were cancelled.
With a daughter to raise, bills to pay and responsibilities to manage, Bullzini has become determined to find a new way to perform and continue to push his limits.
The documentary shows viewers what it takes to be a high wire walker, risking life and limb in the name of performance art.
Chris Bullzini commented: “It’s so real and you’re so alive when you’re up there. I spend all of my time training not to die. I like to keep death in my mind. The more that you are aware that you’re going die, the better you live.”
Life On The Hire Wire – Our Lives will air on Wednesday 11 August at 7:30pm.
