The nine internationally renowned Drag Race queens taking part in the new series RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Versus The World have been announced.
With the UK as the host nation, the series will see queens from different Drag Race franchises compete in an international arena, showcasing their country’s finest drag with the hopes of becoming Queen of the World. The queens will need to impress RuPaul and the judges, Michelle Visage, Alan Carr, Graham Norton and a host of celebrity guest judges, including Clara Amfo, Daisy May Cooper and Jade Thirlwall.
Showcasing the best of British drag will be series one queens the Soho scrubber Baga Chipz, ‘Belfast and furious’ Blue Hydrangea and Essex hun Cheryl Hole, who finished third, fifth and fourth respectively. The Canadian contingent will be represented by Jimbo and Lemon, who came fourth and fifth in the first series of Drag Race Canada.
Competing for her first time will be Drag Race Thailand’s co-host Pangina Heals, while Janey Jacké, runner up of Drag Race Holland, will be representing the Dutch.
The final two queens hail from the United States. Jujubee is a seasoned competitor, having placed in the top three in the second series of Drag Race, as well as the first and fifth series of All Stars. Mo Heart, formally known as Monique Heart, is the final competitor. She has appeared in the tenth series of the American Drag Race, as well as USA All Stars’ fourth series.
Baga Chipz commented: I’m going to BRING it this time! The wigs, the outfits are going to be MUCH BETTA. I am ready to battle. I’m going to knock them out one by one! Baga Chipz is going to kick you right up the arse.”
Cheryl Hole added: “I am the one to beat! And I’m ready to show that I’m not mediocre anymore! This is the queen of the huns right here. I’m gonna have all the badges. I’m gonna be walking sideways because it’s so heavy because I’ve got all the badges… and I’ll be QUEEN OF THE WORLD!”
On entering her fourth Drag Race competition, JuJuBee said: “People might think I’m crazy for doing this again… But I like torture! I’ve been everywhere and that’s because of Drag Race.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Versus The World will air on BBC Three on Tuesday 1 February.
