This week, there’s mayhem everywhere, from schools (Waterloo Road) to offices (Will Trent) to family life (At Home With Katherine Ryan). There’s also cannibalism going on in Yellowjackets, but that didn’t fit in as well.

At Home With Katherine Ryan

Monday

U&W, 9.00pm

“I’m the parent still, and if I say no, I say no,” Katherine Ryan insists.

The comic does an admirable job keeping the desperation out of her voice. Unfortunately, any hopes of coming across as authoritative are dashed when her daughter doesn’t even look up from her screen to reply:

“Okay, well, we’ll see about that.”

Ryan lets a film crew into her house once more to chronicle the life of someone balancing marriage, parenthood and, oh, being a nationally renowned touring comedian.

Waterloo Road

Tuesday

BBC One, 9.00pm

Poor Steven Savage (Jason Manford) didn’t last long as headmaster at Manchester’s hardest-to-control secondary school. Then again, the revelation that you covered up a murder committed by your son does tend to make things awkward in the staff room.

Now, Lindsey Coulson (EastEnders) will be stepping up to the plate, playing Dame Stella Drake. Can Waterloo Road’s new headmistress rebuild its reputation? Or will it forever be known as the ‘murder school’?

Will Trent

Wednesday

Disney+

Head back to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for a third series.

The end of series two saw the eponymous Will (Ramón Rodríguez, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) arrest a detective, Angie (Erika Christensen, Parenthood). As if it wasn’t tough enough to book someone who works in the same building, Will and Angie are also dating. Or were, at least.

After going on leave, Will now needs to confront his trauma to track down a killer.

Cobra Kai

Thursday

Netflix

The sequel series to The Karate Kid comes to an end with part three of series six.

Part two couldn’t have gone much worse for the denizens of Miyagi-Do. A trip to Barcelona for the Sekai Taikai tournament went horribly wrong, with a brawl resulting in the death of a student.

Now, as the smoke clears, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai will need to confront their decades-long rivalry if either want to survive.

Yellowjackets

Friday

Paramount+

The thriller couldn't have picked a better day to come back for its third series. Yellowjackets will be gracing screens on Valentine’s Day, and what’s more romantic than a decades-long story of trauma and cannibalism?

The show flashes back and forth between a 1996 plane crash affecting teen footballers and the present day. There, the extreme measures taken by the stranded survivors continue to haunt them. This series, back in the past, the pull of the wilderness is only getting stronger. In the here and now, people are realising that the only way to keep a secret is to kill everyone else who knows it.
