Fresh from her terrifying Black Mirror appearance, Monica Dolan is set to join the cast of Sherwood, alongside Robert Lindsay, David Harewood and others.

Series one of the RTS Award-winning drama saw two murders tear apart a Nottinghamshire mining village, revealing tensions that had been dormant since 1984. The miners who were on strike and those who crossed the picket line were still at odds four decades later.

When a union man was killed by an arrow, more killings followed in its path as the community unravelled.

In series two, a newly appointed Sheriff of Nottingham will be fighting against a proposed new mine for the area, feeling that despite the prospect of new jobs it would be bad for the community.

Two new families will be introduced and find themselves entering a village with complex rivalries and histories of revenge and betrayal.

Joining David Morrissey (The Walking Dead) and Lesley Manville (World on Fire) for series two are David Harewood (Homeland), Robert Lindsay (My Family), Monica Dolan (The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe), Sharlene Whyte (Small Axe), Stephen Dillane (Game of Thrones), Ria Zmitrowicz (The Power), Aisling Loftus (The Midwich Cuckoos), Robert Emms (Chernobyl), Michael Balogun (Top Boy), Christine Bottomley (Back To Life), Oliver Huntingdon (Happy Valley) Jorden Myrie (Mood), Conor Deane (All Creatures Great & Small) and Bethany Asher (Mobility).

Reprising their roles are Lorraine Ashbourne (I Hate Suzie), Philip Jackson (Peterloo), Perry Fitzpatrick (Line of Duty), Bill Jones (The Village) and Adam Hugill (1917).

Replacing Lewis Arnold (Time) and Ben A Williams (Humans) as the director for series two is film director Clio Barnard (Ally and Ava). Nottinghamshire native James Graham has returned to write the second series.
