The second series of Rose Matafeo’s hit comedy Starstruck will air on BBC Three next month as the channel returns to linear TV.

Co-written by Matafeo, Alice Snedden and Nic Sampson, the six-part series will return to the story of Jessie (Matafeo), a job-juggling East London millennial who finds herself in a complicated romantic entanglement with the famous film star Tom (Nikesh Patel, Four Weddings And A Funeral).

The conclusion of the first series saw Jessie miss her flight home to New Zealand in order to pursue a relationship with Tom. Series two will find her dealing with the real-world consequences of her grand romantic gesture. Minnie Driver (Modern Love) will reprise her role as Tom’s agent Cath, with Russell Tovey (Years And Years) joining the cast for the new series.

The first series of Starstruck became the biggest new comedy of 2021 on BBC iPlayer, with almost 5 million streams on the channel.

The series was commissioned for BBC Three by Controller Fiona Campbell, with Rose Matafeo, Jon Thoday, Richard Allen-Turner, Rob Aslett and Toby Welch as Executive Producers.
