Fifty students from as far afield as Cambridge and London took part in the East Centre’s “Breaking into broadcasting” event at the Norwich University of the Arts in early November.

Run by the BBC Academy, the event aimed to give the students an insight into working in the broadcasting industry.

The morning session on mobile journalism, taken by MoJo guru Marc Settle, gave them the skills to go out into the city and shoot and edit a film entirely on their phones. Grabbing lunch on the go, the completed films were reviewed and a Best Film award given.

The afternoon session covered radio production with Fran Acheson and BBC Radio London and Magic FM’s Jim Davis, and how to boost your CV and get on a recruitment shortlist with BBC Voices’ Gary Standley and Tony Campbell.
