Each series of the Regency era drama sees a different sibling of the Bridgerton family enter the marriage market, with the events of ‘the season’ being heavily documented by their own version of Gossip Girl, Lady Whistledown. Series two saw serial-bachelor Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey, Crashing) finally attempt to settle down, and finding love in an unlikely place, with enemy Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley, Sex Education).

In series three, middle child Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton, The Lodge) will take centre stage, with a friends-to-lovers storyline with long-time companion of the Bridgerton family, Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan, Derry Girls).

Although Penelope has long held a candle for Colin, there was a spanner in the works at the end of last series, as she overheard him declaring he would never consider courting her to a large crowd of peers. Penelope’s big secret was also threatened, as her best friend Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie, Vanity Fair) discovered that she was behind the famed gossip columnist writing about her family.

The newly released clip shows Colin and Penelope on the rocks, as Penelope laments being in her third year ‘in the marriage mart with nothing to show for it’, before revealing she heard his conversation late in series two.

The first four episodes of Bridgerton series three will premiere on Netflix Thursday 16 May 2024, with the final four instalments following on Thursday 13 June 2024.
