ITV has released a trailer for The Assembly, in which celebrities will be grilled by a group of autistic, neurodivergent and/or learning disabled interviewers.
Gary Lineker (Match of the Day), David Tennant (Doctor Who), Little Mix member Jade Thirlwall and Danny Dyer (Rivals) have all enjoyed glittering careers in showbusiness. Between them, they’ve sat down for hundreds of interviews, and racked up hours and hours of media training. Now, they need to take everything they’ve learnt – including any expectation of special treatment – and throw it out the window.
One by one, the quartet will all face the toughest, and funniest, interview of their careers. The trailer features questions about God, the interviewees’ relationship with their children and trapped wind.
In April 2024, the BBC broadcast a one-off episode of The Assembly with Michael Sheen (Staged). The format is itself an adaptation of a French show called Les Rencontres Du Papotin (‘The Papotin Meetings’, AKA The A Talks).
The new episodes of The Assembly will air on ITV1 and STV, and be available on ITVX and STV Player.
