Channel 4 has released first-look images of its new upcoming drama Get Millie Black.
The crime noir stars Tamara Lawrance (Time) as the eponymous Millie, a police officer who leaves the Metropolitan Police behind and swaps London for her native Kingston. Raised in England but born in Jamaica, Millie doesn’t feel at home in either.
Her latest investigation isn’t going to make her feel any more comfortable. A missing persons case quickly pushes her down a dark path, revealing more than perhaps she can handle.
Rounding out the cast are Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones) as Scotland Yard inspector Luke Holborn and Gershwyn Eustache Jnr (The Yellow Birds) as Jamaican police officer Curtis. Dorothy ‘Patra’ Smith will be appearing as Hit Girl, a go-go bar owner and prominent figure of the underworld. Chyna McQueen will also appear as Hibiscus, one of Jamaica’s ‘gully queens’, a group of gay and transgender people who live openly in a country that often wants them dead.
The five-part show will mark the screenwriting debut of A Brief History of Seven Killings author Marlon James. Joshua St. Johnston, Theresa Ikoko and Lydia Adetunji have also written for the series.
Get Millie Black is co-produced by Motive Pictures (backed by Fifth Season) and HBO, and will air on Channel 4 in 2025.
