Guest stars have been announced for Bookish, the upcoming drama on Alibi created and written by Mark Gatiss (The League of Gentlemen), who also stars as Gabriel Book.
Bookish follows the proprietor of an antiquarian bookshop as he assists the police in solving crimes.
Though not a detective by trade, Gabriel has all the knowledge he needs in the books lining his shelves. Set in postwar London, the consultant sleuth has to conceal his sexuality with a ‘lavender marriage’ to Trottie, played by Polly Walker (Bridgerton).
Paul McGann (Withnail and I) will appear as Mr Kind in episodes five and six. He will be joined by Tim McInnerny (One Day) as ‘D’, Elizabeth Berrington (Last Night in Soho) as Sylvia Orr, Mark Umbers (Hotel Portofino) as Victor Orr and Angeliki Papoulia (The Lobster) as Princess Ruhije.
The six-episode series will feature three mysteries, each taking up two episodes.
Joey Richardson (Renegade Nell), Jonas Nay (Deutschland 83), Blake Harrison (World on Fire), Rosie Cavaliero (Funny Woman), Amanda Drew (The Gold) and Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (The Great) are amongst those already announced as cast members.
Tom Forbes (Rules of the Game), Luke Norris (Poldark), Ella Bruccoleri (Passenger) and Michael Workéyè (This is Going to Hurt) will also appear as guest stars.
Bookish will air on Alibi in 2025.
