Disney+ has released first-look images of The Stolen Girl, a five-part thriller.
Denise Gough (Andor), Holliday Grainger (Merlin), Ambika Mod (One Day) and Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas) star in the adaptation of Playdate, the novel by Alex Dahl, who also executive produces. Rounding out the cast are Bronagh Waugh (Death in Paradise), and Michael Workeye (My Lady Jane).
In the thriller series, Elisa’s 9-year-old daughter Lucia asks to have a sleepover with Josie, a girl she’s only just met. Elisa has her reservations, until Josie’s mum Rebecca charms her out of any hesitation. Their beautiful house also convinces Elisa that Lucia will be in good hands.
The next morning, Elisa returns to Rebecca’s home to discover it wasn’t Rebecca’s home at all – it was a rental. Now, the house is empty, and Lucia is missing.
The subsequent manhunt spreads across Europe, but suspicions begin to grow that the call is coming from inside the house. Both the police and public are suspicious of Elisa and her husband Fred. Certainly, things at home weren’t as perfect as they seemed before the kidnapping. Was Rebecca right to take Lucia? Is it maybe even better if the stolen girl doesn’t come back to Elisa and Fred?
