BBC has released the first look images for the third and final series of The Split.
The drama will see prolific stage and screen writer Abi Morgan OBE (Suffragette) make her directorial debut, after writing all three series of the show.
Set within London’s fast paced and cutthroat high-end divorce industry, the series explores the highs and lows of marriage and the legacy and complications of divorce.
The Defoe sisters, Hannah (Nicola Walker), Nina (Annabel Scholey) and Rose (Fiona Button), and their mother Ruth (Deborah Findlay) are attempting to navigate through their increasingly messy lives, in a bid to find some calm in the drama and heartbreak.
Hannah and Nathan (Stephen Mangan) are struggling to sort through 20 years of their life together following their split, when Hannah discovers a shocking secret, which dramatically changes the stakes.
To make matters worse, the catalyst to the marriage breakdown, Christie (Barry Atsma), is back, as the roles are reversed and divorce lawyer Hannah becomes the client.
The battle lines are redrawn and the dream of achieving a good divorce is seeming less and less possible.
Jane Featherstone, Lucy Dyke and Lucy Richer will return as executive producers.
Abi Morgan commented: “So much of a writer’s life is solitary that it has been a complete joy to direct and to finally get to work with the brilliant cast and crew and be part of the magic that happens between first read-through and final edit that I normally don’t get to see.
“Terrifying as I have worked with some truly great directors in my time, but it was a pleasure to join The Split directorial team helmed by Dee Koppang O’Leary.”
