The great war is here.

While audiences eagerly wait for the upcoming season, Sky Atlantic has released a new trailer to give an idea of what's to come.

Winter has arrived and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) has set sail for the Seven Kingdoms, with Jon Snow (Kit Harington) being named King of the North.

Deceptive Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) has seized the Iron Throne for herself and the Night King has gathered his undead forces for the ultimate war.

In the trailer we see Daenerys finally marching forth to King's Landing with her dragons to take what is rightfully hers, with Liam Cunningham’s Ser Davos giving wise advance warning, "If we don’t put aside our enmities and bound together, we will die, and then it won’t matter whose skeleton sits on the Iron Throne.”

Chilling.

Even though Game of Thrones is in its penultimate season, George R R Martin has signed a contract with HBO and four writers to prolong the hit series with some spin-offs.

Game of Thrones season 7 premieres on July 17 on Sky Atlantic at 2am and repeated at 9pm on the same day.
