BBC Three has announced new streetwear competition The Drop with Clara Amfo as the host.
The series will see nine of Britain’s up-and-coming creatives showcase their own streetwear brand in the competition.
The competition blends together fashion, music, sport, celebrity and business, all taking place in the heart of Manchester and culminating in a life-changing prize.
Grammy Award-winning artist Miguel is the head judge and will be joined by Marc Jacques Burton, an entrepreneur and high-end designer with his own luxury British label MJB, which has dressed the like of Zayn Malik, Tom Hardy and Gigi Hadid.
Professional skateboarder, designer and model Blondey is the final judge and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in fashion such as Burberry, Valentino and Adidas, as well as owning cult London streetwear label THAMES MMXX.
Host Clara Amfo has a passion for streetwear and has interviewed some of the biggest artists in the world as the host of BBC Radio’s Future Sounds.
Clara Amfo commented: “I’m so excited to be presenting The Drop - clothing and in particular streetwear has been a constant passion of mine, so to marry that with this role is a dream come true!
“There is so much design talent in the UK that inspires the world over and I can’t wait for the audience and hopefully future fans of these creatives to see what they bring to the table!”
Marc Jacques Burton said: “It was always my dream to have a clothing brand. I have had so many valuable lessons, through my journey in creating MJB.
“I cannot wait to mentor the creatives of The Drop and help them shine. It’s going to be a fun ride with Miguel and Blondey. It will be interesting to see what we agree and disagree on.”
