Casualty star Patrick Robinson and Nadine Marshall (Save Me) will lead the cast of new BBC One drama Sitting In Limbo.

Based on a first-hand account of the Windrush scandal in 2016, the drama follows Anthony Bryan (Robinson) who is classed as an illegal immigrant despite living in the UK for over 50 years.

After deciding to visit his mother in Jamaica, Bryan is shocked to discover that there are no records of him at the Passport Office, requiring him to prove his citizenship to the Immigration Office.

Bryan is later forced to leave his job without the ability to claim benefits and is forcibly removed from his home when he is detained as an illegal immigrant.

Stuck in limbo, Bryan is pushed into the centre of a devastating and far reaching scandal.

Also among the cast is Marshall who will star as Bryan’s partner Janet, alongside Pippa Bennett Warner (MotherFatherSon) who plays Bryan’s daughter, Eileen, CJ Beckford (The Trial Of Christine Keeler) as her brother Gary and Corinne Skinner Carter (EastEnders) who plays Bryan’s mother, Lucille.

The feature-length drama was written by Bryan’s brother Stephen S. Thompson and will be produced by The Crown creators, Left Bank Pictures, for BBC One.

Filming for the drama has begun with the air date to be announced at a later date.
