E4’s new series Baewatch will test unsuspecting couples, allowing their in-laws to secretly follow them on their romantic break for two.

The in-laws, who have not yet met their relative’s significant other, will set behind the scenes challenges to test the strength of the relationship.

“The series takes a humorous look at a relationship milestone almost everyone can relate to,” commented Vivienne Molokwu, Commissioning Editor of Channel 4.

“Meeting the parents but multiples the awkwardness of that often-dreaded moment by 100%.”

Baewatch follows the couples as they fly out to a luxury villa and sees both pairs of parents meeting to discuss their children’s relationship chances.

The oblivious couple will then be surprised with a face-to-face meeting with their partner’s parents and will be made to re-watch their holiday adventures together.

Phil Harris, Creative Director of Thames added: “We are so excited to bring this new dating show with a sunshine twist to E4. We decided to take the moment you meet your in-laws and explode it E4 style to create a truly funny, cringey and memorable show.

“We are going to see the Instagram generation completely unfiltered in front of the people they want to impress the most.”
