Until I Kill You

Until I Kill You: A unique true crime drama about a singular person

Anna Maxwell Martin kneels down for tea on a colourful rug, in character as Delia Balmer in Until I Kill You

Delia Balmer, the protagonist of ITV’s true-crime drama Until I Kill You, is a singular sort of person. She’s a “traveller”, not a “tourist”; a “female” never a “woman”, with the sharpest of tongues.

Balmer, played by Anna Maxwell Martin, is isolated. Living alone in a run-down flat in London’s Kentish Town in 1991, she is virtually friendless at the hospital where she works as a nurse, and her family lives overseas.

Working Lives: Drama Commissioner

What does the job involve?

Working with the brilliant producers and writers we have in this country, we look for dramas that we think people will watch and love on ITV – and then we facilitate the producers to make them. We’re out there telling people what we think might work for ITV, and the producers also come to us with great ideas.

We want ideas that will surprise and challenge us, so we’re not simply doing the same thing over and over again.
