New shows announced for Sky Documentaries and Sky Nature

The new channels will show a mix of premium, original commissions and acquired content.

Sky’s Managing Director of Content, Zai Bennett, commented: “These new commissions showcase Sky’s investment in world-class original content and the breadth and range of factual shows our customers will be able to find on Sky Documentaries and Sky Nature.”

Sky Studios acquires a stake in True to Nature

This is the first investment Sky Studios has made, which is part of Sky’s plan to invest in more than double the original content across a range of genres over the next five years.

Founded in 2016 by Dr Wendy Drake, former head of the BBC natural history unit, TTN has produced a range of natural history series, including Dave’s ten-part series Expedition and BBC’s Undiscovered World with Steve Backshall.

UKTV and BBC partner for innovative new adventure travel series

From hiking through unmapped jungle in South America, to the first descent of a white-water river in the Himalayas and discovering  the deserts of the Middle East;  Steve Backshall, with a team of world-class specialists and a film crew will chart them all, as they venture into new territories.

The crew, which includes divers, kayakers and mountaineers will record their trials and tribulations, and this footage will be at the heart of the story.
