Four awards for two Irish colleges at the RTS Undergraduate Television Awards 2020

Congratulations to the filmmakers from Irish colleges for their successes in the RTS Television Awards in June 2020. The film Starry Night by IADT film students won against high-quality competing films from top UK colleges for the Undergraduate Drama award and Starry Night went on to gather two more awards for craft skill achievements. The IADT student production team for Starry Night includes Emma Smith, Caoilinn Handley, Rachel Moloney, Lori Stacey and Anna Heisterkamp.

Winners of the RTS Student Television Awards 2020 announced

The virtual event was hosted by comedian and presenter Matt Richardson.

The awards celebrate students across six categories for the best audiovisual work created at both undergraduate and postgraduate level including Animation, Comedy & Entertainment, Drama, Factual, News and Short Form. To reward excellence in craft skills, awards were also presented in the following categories at the judges’ discretion: Camerawork, Editing, Production Design, Sound and Writing.

Nominations announced for the RTS Student Television Awards 2020

Across six categories, 23 institutions’ students have received nominations, having qualified by winning at their respective regional RTS Student Awards earlier this year.

Now in its 25th year, the awards ceremony will be livestreamed on Friday 26 June at 2pm BST. Further details will be published on the RTS website in due course. The RTS Student Awards celebrates the best audiovisual work created by students with an Undergraduate and Postgraduate winner both awarded in each category across Animation, Comedy & Entertainment, Drama, Factual, News and Short Form.
