Clive Myrie announced as new host of Mastermind

A double winner at this year’s RTS Television Journalism Awards, Myrie works as a news journalist and has been a regular presenter of the BBC News at Six and Ten since 2010. Prior to this, Myrie worked as a BBC correspondent across the globe, reporting from Asia, Africa, Washington and Brussels.

Myrie will be taking over from fellow BBC journalist John Humphrys, whose last episode will air in April.

Richard Smith has been the BBC’s sustainability manager for 10 years. He was previously an on-screen reporter for BBC regional news programmes, including Midlands Today. As home affairs correspondent for BBC South East, he reported on drugs, asylum seekers and homelessness, and won an RTS award.

Based at MediaCity UK in Salford, Smith heads a team working to raise awareness of environmental issues within the television industry and reduce the carbon footprint of programme production.

It was based on his conviction that everything in the world can be made interesting if looked at long enough and approached from the right angle.

Lloyd was appearing at a Southern Centre event held at Southampton Solent University in early December. Interviewed by lecturer Tony Moon, he emphasised the need for TV practitioners to know what they like and then be honest in setting out to achieve it.
