The annual lecture and a scholarship fund for students of journalism from lower income backgrounds were established by The Media Society and The Royal Television Society in memory of Steve Hewlett.

Proceeds of the lecture will go to the Steve Hewlett Scholarship Fund, which is chaired by Sir Clive Jones, and managed by him, Steve’s widow Rachel Crellin and John Mair.
There will be a reception after the lecture in Portland Hall.
The awards celebrate excellence in broadcast television and aim to recognise the huge variety of skills and processes involved in programme making.

The awards will be held at the London Hilton on Park Lane from 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start on Monday 22nd November, presented by ITV's Charlene White. The dress code will be black tie.
