Love Island Final

After 57 episodes, including some villa-rocking bomb shells, shock exits and possibly the most explosive Casa Amor scandals in the show’s seven series history, Love Island concludes tonight with its live final hosted by Laura Whitmore.

The remaining couples are Teddy and Faye, Toby and Chloe, Liam and Millie and Tyler and Kaz, but only one pair will be crowned the winners and walk away with the £50,000 prize.

The Walking Dead

Entering its eleventh and final series, zombie thriller The Walking Dead has found its new home on Disney+, with episodes dropping weekly on the streaming site.

Norman Reedus reprises his role as Daryl, with Melissa McBride as Carol, Christian Serratos as Rosita, Josh McDermitt as Eugene, Seth Gilliam as Father Gabriel, Ross Marquand as Aaron, Khary Payton as Ezekiel, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan.

After the mysterious group of hostile survivors known as the Whisperers devastated the city of Alexandria, those of the group who remain struggle to rebuild their city as food supplies dwindle.

Tokyo 2020 Paralympics 

Tuesday

After being delayed for a year because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics begins with live daily coverage and highlights of the games. 

The presenting team includes Ade Adepitan, Clare Balding, Tanni Grey-Thompson and JJ Chalmers. 

Plus, Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker will be giving their own summary of the games every evening on The Last Leg, with Rosie Jones reporting live from Tokyo.

Some of this year’s UK medal hopefuls include sprinter Jonnie Peacock, swimmer Ellie Simmonds and wheelchair racer Hannah Cockroft. 

Gossip Girl

The iconic teen drama following the social elite of Manhattan’s Upper East Side has been given a Gen-Z reboot, with Gossip Girl’s scandalous blog now becoming an anonymous Instagram page.

Kristen Bell once again voices the mysterious Gossip Girl, with Jordan Alexander playing Julien Calloway, and Whitney Peak starring as Julien’s half-sister Zoya, who has just moved to the elite private school, Constance Billard St. Jude’s.

The new series is set to explore the damaging effects of social media, lifting the lid on the social surveillance we subject ourselves to through our phones.

Sixteen: Class of 2021

The observational documentary follows the lives of a group of students as they turn 16 and get ready to take their GCSEs amidst the chaos of a global pandemic. 

Faced with important decisions that will affect their future, the teenagers talk about their hopes and ambitions, as well as their anxieties over the long-term consequences of the past year.

The general highs and lows of being a teenager are also explored as they navigate relationships, parties, social media, and discover their own identities. 

Some of the teenagers include Callum, who has a close-knit family proud of their Black Country roots, Aaminah, a head girl and wants to use her voice to instigate change at home and at school, and Sade, who lives with her mum and younger brother and enjoys spending time on making sure she looks good but also has a strong work ethic.

The dark comedy follows Allison (Annie Murphy), a woman struggling to find her place in a life consumed by her unhappy marriage to her husband Kevin (Eric Petersen), who is an insensitive and unambitious man child. 

In a twist, the series switches between Allison’s contrasting perspectives of her experience, as a stereotypical sitcom wife and as a woman struggling to find herself. 

As Allison tries to break out of the role of the passive wife, she realises the injustices women face as a result of the sitcom trope and strives to follow her own path.
