Hollington Drive will focus on the lives of two sisters, Theresa and her older sister Helen, who works as a head teacher.

The series opens on a warm summer evening where Theresa and her partner Fraser are hosting a barbeque. When their ten-year-old son Ben asks to go to a nearby park with his cousin Eva, the parents begin to argue over whether they should let the children go.

Theresa’s anxious sense of foreboding is realised when the children fail to arrive home on time. On her search for them, she finds them fighting at the edge of the woods and instinctively knows something terrible has happened.

Her suspicions prove true when, later that evening, her distraught neighbour Jean calls on the family to say her ten-year-old son Alex is missing.

Now the two children are acting strangely out of character, and Theresa can’t help but think somehow Ben and Eva might be implicated in Alex’s disappearance. Faced with the horrifying chance that Alex may have been murdered and her own son might be his killer, Theresa’s life begins to unravel.

Sharing her excitement for the new series, ITV’s head of drama Polly Hill commented: “I am delighted to be making Sophie's brilliant script for ITV.

“It’s a beautifully written thriller that looks at maternal love and sisterly love, in a story that will compel and surprise the audience.  I am also pleased to be working with Jonathan Fisher and our first ITV drama with West Road Pictures.”  

Hollington Drive will begin filming later this year.
