The Crystal Maze: Celebrity Christmas Special

Channel 4, 8.00pm

The Crystal Maze gets festive with a panto-themed special and a selection of famous faces are put to the test in a series of challenges.

Facing the maze is pantomime star and actor Christopher Biggins, entrepreneur Deborah Meaden, Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing, singer Frankie Bridge and football pundit Chris Kamara.

Presenter Richard Ayoade returns to guide the celebs on their journey through the mysterious maze.

The ABC Murders

BBC One, 9.00pm

John Malkovich stars as the great Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, as he embarks on solving a new case of murders.

Taking place in 1933, Poirot is not what he used to be, as his reputation has faded and reduced him to hosting murder mystery parties at hotels.

With old friend Inspector Japp having retired, Poirot’s list of allies grows smaller. He is also troubled by the early roots of Fascism taking hold in interwar Britain, where some disparagingly label the great detective as a “foreigner”.

He is taunted by a serial killer with a distinct calling card “A.B.C.,” who murders his or her victims in alphabetical order.

Poirot must stop the ruthless murderer before the killing spree continues.

Sarah Phelps’s adaptation of the murder mystery continues on Thursday 27th December and Friday 28th December on BBC One.

Big Fat Quiz of the Year

Channel 4, 9.00pm

Comedian Jimmy Carr returns to host the annual quiz, where teams of celebs get tested on the biggest topics from 2018.

Getting quizzical this year are old timers Richard Ayoade, actor and presenter Noel Fielding, actor David Mitchell (Upstart Crow) and Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman.

They will be joined by newcomers comedian Michelle Wolf and comedian and co-host of The Big Narstie Show, Mo Gilligan.

Helped by Channel 4 News’s Jon Snow and actor Charles Dance, the contestents will be questioned about Kanye West’s passcode and Danny Dyer’s thoughts on former prime minister David Cameron.
