Making Doctor Who!
Series 11 of Doctor Who debuts on 7th October, and has once again been made in Wales.  RTS Wales are delighted to be 'in conversation' with Simon Winstone, Head of Drama, Wales, BBC Studios, and Arwel Wyn Jones, Production Designer, Doctor Who.
USW Atrium Theatre, Cardiff.  Wednesday October 17th at 6pm.

Drones and CGI
For our first event of the Autumn, Michael Surcombe of aerial filming company, Leaping Wing, demonstrated some of the latest drone filming equipment at the BBC Club in Cardiff.

Eisteddfod Genedlaethol 2018
The 2018 National Eisteddfod was held in Cardiff Bay.  Unlike previous years, entry to the Eisteddfod was free of charge.
RTS Cymru Wales events were held in the Sinemaes (Pop-Up Cinema) tent, which was sited next to The Senedd.

Sad News
The RTS Cymru Wales Centre notes with great sadness the recent death of the television director, Terry Dyddgen Jones, most well-known for his work in directing over 200 episodes of Coronation Street.  He gave a fascinating talk about his work to the Wales Centre in September 2011 at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.  With typical modesty he said that, while around 19.4 million viewers watched the death of Des Barnes in Corrie, he would count himself lucky if even 200 people remembered his name from the closing credits.

RTS Student Television Awards
The winners of this year’s RTS Student Television Awards have now been published and can be found on the RTS Website.  There are none from Wales.
The Awards were presented on Friday 22nd June at the BFI Southbank, South Bank, London.

Carmarthen Bay Film Festival
This year’s RTS Wales CBFF event, “The Search for Little Flanders”, told the story of a Heritage Lottery funded restoration and digital content project, based around St Jerome’s Church in the village of Llangwm, south Pembrokeshire.

Celtic Media Festival

The cult drama Un Bore Mercher/Keeping Faith was the subject of our discussion event on the 3rd May.  Joining executive producer and RTS Wales Chair, Judith Winnan, on the panel were S4C’s Creative Content Director, Amanda Rees, S4C Drama Commissioner, Gethin Scourfield, Series Producer, Adrian Bate (Vox nPictures), and Executive Producer of Keeping Faith for BBC Wales, Maggie Russell.
