The RTS competition for Avid Xpress Pro software has been won by Sharon Barbour of Storm UK Productions.

The Walker-based company was formed in 2006 to develop community film-making. Sharon also works with BBC Look North based in Newcastle.

"I am keen to support community producers who might otherwise find it difficult to afford to edit their pieces," said Sharon, who also intends to support skills development for young people interested in learning more about Avid editing.

The competition was announced at the 2006 RTS North East and the Border Centre Awards, where coincidentally Sharon won praise for her exclusive reports, which she shoots and edits herself.
