Once dubbed "The Eighth Wonder of the World" by comedian Jack Whitehall, the much-loved M5 Gloucester service stations are opening their doors to Channel 4 for a new behind-the-scenes documentary.

The six hour-long episodes will look at what makes the family-run business tick, and introduce a host of charming Gloucester characters. This includes the staff, visitors and those from the community it loyally serves by cooking and selling local produce. The first is one for the cheese lovers.

Super vets Matthew Smith and Julian Norton are back in action in God's Country, caring for animals in need at their practices in North Yorkshire.

In the first episode, a frog called Kermit has a delicate problem at his rear end, but it's so slippery and jumpy that Smith has his own problem attending to it. Meanwhile Julian operates on a cat with strange lumps, and two of his friends bring him a ewe who's struggling to give birth to twins.

Why you'd hand over your special day to a BBC camera crew and competing wedding planners is anyone's guess, but it should make for a series of both schmaltz and schadenfreude.

Eight aspiring planners will be battling it out as they organise the weddings of six daring couples. The first promises an explosive start as they have to transform an industrial Concorde hangar under the vigilant eyes of judges Fred Sirieix, Sara Davies and Raj Somaiya.

Strange Planet

It's set in a world of cotton candy pinks and purples, and follows the lives of all blue beings, but Strange Planet is really about the strangest planet of all: planet Earth.

Dan Harmon of Rick and Morty fame, a similarly absurdist cartoon, has co-adapted the New York Times bestselling graphic novel, Strange Planet, along with its author Nathan W Pyle. The series looks set to offer animated versions of his Instagram-famous, witty and incisive observations of humans and their extraordinary everyday lives. Be they reading "danger menus" for tips on how not to die, drinking "jitter liquid" and "mild poison", or decorating our birthdays with "tiny trash".

It's not all trivialities though — the trailer hints at some profound monologues with one on the transience of life.

Nicola Walker is back cracking cases and breaking the fourth wall in a new series of Annika.

While DI Annika Strandhed (Walker) and her Marine Homicide Unit are handed a burner phone with grisly footage of a drowning, she is also trying to tell DS Michael McAndrews (Jamie Sives) that he is the father of her teenage daughter. And she's not the only one on the team with a secret.
